Occurence of trembling aspen
This is the most prevailing type of all others in Europe. Quaking aspen is distributed in North Asia too. One can find it almost everywhere, including the mountains side, alongside forests or in tree hedges. It is commonly found in those hillside places where can spread up to more than 100 metres.
It is indigenous in the northern parts of Eurasia from Ireland to Japan up to 70 parallel of latitude. It is widespread from the flat areas to the high mountains. It is indigenous in Hungary too. One can find it standing alone or in groups among oak and hornbeam trees.
Features of trembling aspen
Quaking aspen is a deciduous tree, its height is 20-30 metres. It throws out suckers. Its head is flimsy, later it looks conical or roundish and sometimes it splits to different abnormal parts. Its trunk is rarely straight but slightly bent. Its bark is smooth enough and sometimes sticky, its colour is greenish-grey. Its leaves are 3-10 cm long, its clump of shoots are heart-shaped, other way they are roundish. Their top peaks are short with a coarsely toothed margin that sometimes cannot be seen well, it's petiols are long. It is a dioecious plant.
Use of quaking aspen panelling
It is used in cellulose and plywood business, in particular, as it is beautiful and healthy because its white tree is very valuable. From quality round wood plywood, they produce timber, lath and veneer sheets. According to experiments peeled poplar tree is perfect for LVL beam production. The quaking aspen's bright color makes the perfect choice for the manufacture of indoor saunas.
Due to its fast growing ability and the fact that it is used in industrial measures, it is the most important species in wood industry in the distant future.
